Founders of ‘Greenstar Mining’ Sentenced to Prison in Irkutsk

Founders of 'Greenstar Mining' Sentenced to Prison in Irkutsk

On April 11, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Irkutsk delivered a guilty verdict to five residents of the Chelyabinsk region involved in the fictitious sale of cryptocurrency mining equipment through the company ‘Greenstar Mining’.

According to the case materials, since 2021, the defendants advertised their services online, offering to supply miners with a 50% prepayment. They also claimed to provide hosting for clients’ existing devices at their ‘mining hostel’.

In reality, the founders of ‘Greenstar Mining’ appropriated the money and equipment for themselves.

During their criminal activities, they defrauded 68 individuals, causing total damages exceeding 12 million rubles.

The defendants were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 3 years and 8 months to 4 years in a general regime colony. The victims are to receive compensation for the stolen funds.

The verdict has not yet come into legal force.

Earlier, ForkLog reported that in Novosibirsk, energy companies, together with the police, shut down mining farms comprising 3225 devices.
