Fragment sells Telegram's first username for 900,000 TON

On 2 November, at Fragment’s blockchain auction, Fragment sold the first Telegram username — @auto.

The final price of the handle was 900 000 Toncoin (about $1.4 million).

The first bid of 10,000 TON (about $18,400 at the time) was placed on October 26.

The account with that username has not been created yet.

Update:

Over the past two days, auctions for another 53 Telegram usernames have closed.

Besides @auto, among the most expensive were:

  • @bank — 850 000 TON;
  • @avia — 800 000 TON;
  • @chat — 700 000 TON;
  • @fifa — 600 000 TON.

Legally, Fragment Corp. is not affiliated with Telegram Messenger Inc. and is not its subsidiary. Telegram, however, has the right to delete a purchased username if it violates Telegram’s Terms of Service or the laws of certain countries.

As reported, the Fragment marketplace for selling account identifiers launched in late October. The service does not provide services to residents of the United States.
