Franklin Templeton to launch metaverse-focused ETF
Franklin Templeton, which manages more than $1.4 trillion in assets, announced the launch of an exchange-traded fund (ETF) focused on metaverses. This was said in a press release.
European investors will have access to the Franklin Metaverse UCITS ETF. The instrument will track the Solactive Global Metaverse Innovation Net Total Return Index. It comprises companies with a significant influence on the virtual worlds segment, including blockchain applications (Block, Galaxy Digital, Electronic Arts).
“The new ETF will be registered on Deutsche Börse Xetra on September 7 and on Borsa Italiana, as well as on the London Stock Exchange on September 9,” the statement said.
The company noted that it is betting on metaverses and blockchain due to the potential ‘profound impact on society and global economic growth’.
Earlier, the investment company and Illuminate Financial led a subsequent round of Series A funding for Curv, a provider of infrastructure for storing cryptocurrencies.
In July 2021, Franklin Templeton supported Galaxy Digital’s crypto funds fund with $33.75 million.
In the autumn, the firm opened cryptocurrency-related vacancies — an analyst and a trader.
Earlier, at the end of 2021, asset manager ProShares filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission an application to launch an ETF focused on the metaverse.
