Free TON Network Integrated into China’s State Blockchain Platform BSN

TON Labs, one of the founders of the Free TON ecosystem, has become a partner of China’s state blockchain platform, the Blockchain-based Service Network (BSN). This was disclosed to Forklog by company representatives.

The parties signed an agreement under the BSN’s global initiative called OPB, aimed at integrating dozens of public blockchains into the platform. Under the terms of the contract, TON Labs will provide Chinese developers with access to the TON protocol, enabling the creation of applications on Free TON in compliance with Chinese regulatory requirements.

Executive Director of the BSN Development Association Yifan He welcomed the partnership with Free TON:

“We were impressed by TON Technology’s capabilities in terms of throughput, speed and low latency, which open up possibilities for creating solutions that require a high level of scalability. BSN allows TON Labs to enter the Chinese market and legally provide its technologies and services to local companies and developers.”

As noted earlier, the Free TON network was launched in May 2020 based on the open-source code of the Telegram Open Network by Pavel Durov, from which the entrepreneur withdrew due to legal disputes with the US regulator. As the creators emphasise, Free TON is developed by the community and has no legal structure. The project did not attract investors and did not conduct an ICO: token distribution takes place through contests.

The OPB allows legally using popular public blockchains on the Chinese market by excluding the cryptocurrency payment mechanism for network fees and by implementing controls over node operators. The BSN platform blocks all peer-to-peer paid transactions if they are not conducted in yuan.

Last year, Bloomberg reported the BSN’s intention to add 100 networks to its platform and become the “internet of blockchains.” The support for Ethereum, Tezos, NEO and several other projects was announced in August 2020, in November they added Polkadot, Oazis and Bityuan, in February 2021 — Cosmos. In addition, BSN plans to integrate the digital yuan into the networks it uses .
