From the FTX exchange, 45,596 BTC moved in minutes
January 31, in three minutes, unknown actors moved a total of 45,596 BTC ($1.68 billion at the time of the transactions) between different wallets. This was noted by the service Bitcoin Block Bot.
All seven transactions ended up included in a single block #721 186.
While including the transactions in one block and the similar fee size cannot directly indicate that they were sent by the same user, these transactions are in some way linked, said ForkLog CEO Sergei Mendelyev of Indefibank.
The expert said the conclusion was drawn from the observation that similar patterns were used along the path of bitcoins to these wallets.
“Here, more likely, one should direct the question to the FTX exchange, which is the source of these transactions.”
Overall, there is nothing surprising about a series of large transactions ending up in a single block.
“If roughly a hundred transactions with the same high fee are executed around the same time, they will also enter the next block in succession — that is how the Bitcoin network operates,” added Mendelyev.
As Glassnode analysts report, Bitcoin transactions of $1 million and above account for 65% of the transferred on-chain value.
