Gamers, Anime and NFTs: A Look at the Japanese TimeCoinProtocol Project

One of the most notable events in 2021 in the crypto industry was the growth of the GameFi (Game Finance) segment. In March the Enjin team launched a blockchain for developing game assets, and in July the Axie Infinity game token AXS made it into the Top-50 of CoinMarketCap.

TimeTicket Inc., since 2017, develops infrastructure solutions for the gaming industry and the sharing economy on the Ethereum blockchain. We discuss the TimeCoinProtocol platform, the project’s services, and the forthcoming listing of the TimeCoin token on Binance DEX.

TimeCoinProtocol Ecosystem

The TimeCoinProtocol ecosystem comprises three services:

The eSportStars site. The platform is integrated with the Discord application.

According to the thematic resource Panora, in 2020 the number of VTubers reached 10,000. Almost all of them speak Japanese and use anime-style avatars.

VTuber avatars on NeoRad.

TimeTicket signed a contract with VTuber Shirahari Uni (Shirahari Uni), which has over 100,000 subscribers on YouTube.

Additionally, NeoRad collaborates with other video-content creators: Nekohime Neko, Irodori Mushiki and Koizumi Hoshi.

TMCN Token

TimeCoinProtocol issues the native TimeCoin (TMCN) token on the Ethereum blockchain. In November 2020 the project conducted an initial exchange offering (IEO) on BitForex, where it sold TMCN at $0.70.

After the token sale TMCN rose to $11, and in February 2021 the price on BitForex reached an all-time high of $8,500.

In the same month the TimeCoinProtocol team launched a token sale on the project site. The first sale round with a 93% discount ran from 15 February to 30 April.

The second round started on 1 May. The project offered 5 million TMCN at a 91% discount. Tokens at this price can be purchased until the end of October.

TimeCoinProtocol intends to allocate the proceeds from the TMCN sale to developing the ecosystem’s services:

“TimeTicket plans to raise $20 million. We will spend it on developing an NFT platform and a DeFi system to support streamers and esports players — Creator Sponsor Staking (CSS),” commented Masato Kakamu, CEO of TimeTicket Inc.

Currently TMCN can be purchased on centralized exchanges BitForex and BitMart. After the token sale TimeCoinProtocol will list the token on Binance DEX.

The Project’s Future

In October 2021 TimeCoinProtocol will launch GameTomodachi — a matchmaking service supporting 1000 games and 30 languages, including Russian.

GameTomodachi profiles will include data on gaming achievements and reviews from other users.

“At launch the service will operate in Russia, Indonesia, India and the Philippines. Russia is one of the largest gaming markets in Europe, so launching there is very important for us. GameTomodachi will help users find teammates in their country and abroad — by favourite games, time zones and languages,” noted Masato Kakamu.

One feature of the service is selling tickets to online games such as Apex Legends and PUBG. Ticket owners will be able to play together with well-known esports players and streamers.

Conclusions

According to the analytical resource DappRadar, from May to August the share of DeFi protocols among decentralized applications fell from 45% to 18%, yielding ground to projects in NFT and GameFi. The latter is forming an infrastructure for developers, players and investors.

TimeCoinProtocol plans to carve out its niche in this sector. The project’s solutions are primarily targeted at users in Japan, but the eSportStars and GameTomodachi platforms could attract gamers worldwide.
