Gate Pay and CityPay to launch crypto-payment service in Georgia
The Gate Pay crypto-payment service has partnered with the Georgian startup CityPay to integrate digital assets into the local business sector.
According to the statement, the initiative provides access to fast and convenient cryptocurrency payment methods for more than 600 Georgian retailers.
“The partnership could potentially connect millions of Gate.io and Gate Pay users with hundreds of merchants across Georgia, covering the main everyday activities of people, such as hotel bookings, grocery shopping, and paying bills in restaurants,” the statement said.
One of CityPay’s first partners in the country was the Wendy’s restaurant chain.
Gate Pay is a subsidiary of Gate Group, which in March announced a Visa crypto-debit card for customers in Europe.
Since February, some shops in France began accepting digital assets thanks to the partnership between Binance and Ingenico.
In the same month, Whitepay launched a Bitcoin-payment service in Europe. Later, the project implemented crypto transactions in the network of the Ukrainian electronics retailer Foxtrot.
