The cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, founded by the Winklevoss twins, has begun operating in the United Kingdom.

Users can deposit British pounds via cards or bank transfers. The exchange also supports Faster Payments Service (FPS), Clearing House Automated Payment System (CHAPS) and SWIFT.

In the register of the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) it is noted that Gemini operates two subsidiaries: Gemini Europe Ltd and Gemini Europe Services Ltd. The first handles fiat settlements, the second — custody of cryptocurrencies and trading on the exchange.

In August, the FCA accredited Gemini’s subsidiaries under AMLD5.

Previously, the Winklevoss twins’ exchange topped CryptoCompare’s rating, which assesses regulatory compliance, reliability, and the quality of assets available in the listing. Gemini’s closest competitor was Coinbase.
