Georgia to Intensify Crackdown on Illegal Cryptocurrency Mining

Georgia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mamuka Mdinaradze announced government plans to combat illegal cryptocurrency mining in the mountainous region of Svaneti, where electricity is provided to residents free of charge.

According to him, mining overloads the power system, degrades the quality of electricity supply, and harms both local residents and the state. Authorities plan to install meters to identify large-scale consumption.
