Google and Bayer Launch AI Platform for Radiologists
Google Cloud and the German medical company Bayer have announced the creation of an AI platform designed to assist radiologists in making quicker diagnoses.
#TeamBayer is dedicated to providing impactful #AI solutions to help radiologists reduce workload and provide accurate diagnoses. We’re excited to announce our partnership with @googlecloud to accelerate the power of AI and better serve patient diagnoses. https://t.co/p5tBMQrfbL

The generative AI highlights anomalies in images and extracts relevant information from medical histories. For instance, if a patient comes in for an annual breast cancer screening, the platform can detect current issues, compare the image with previous results, and summarize the data.
“The entire technological process is designed to enable radiologists to complete their tasks more quickly. With AI, they can review more images and serve more patients,” Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian told CNBC.
According to him, the platform does not replace doctors but serves as an auxiliary tool, akin to a microscope.
Google Cloud has been collaborating with Bayer on the radiology platform for about five years. It is based on existing technological solutions such as Vertex AI, Healthcare API, and BigQuery.
“Assisting in research and the deployment of AI models is a big step forward for us,” said Bayer Vice President Guido Mathews.
He stated that medical organizations will begin testing and providing feedback on the platform this year.
In March, researchers at the University of Ottawa reported the integration of neural networks into their work on cardiovascular diseases.
