Google CEO Sundar Pichai has suggested that a subscription business model could be a ‘possible path’ to pay for some of the company’s AI-powered products. The information was reported by Business Insider.
According to him, AI gives the company the opportunity to improve its search engine and Google Assistant over the next decade.
“Over time, new avenues for development will emerge, just as we did with YouTube. I think that with AI, subscription models are possible,” he explained.
According to the publication, in the third quarter Google\’s Other revenues rose 21%, largely due to YouTube subscriptions.
Likely, the Google CEO was encouraged by the profits from the cable-TV service YouTube TV, which costs $70 per month. The video platform has also recently started paid NFL game broadcasts, for which it charges more than $100 per season.
Pichai also noted that he received good feedback from users of the Search Generative Experience. This is a generative search tool based on the ChatGPT and Google Bard language models.
During the quarterly conference, Morgan Stanley analyst Bryan Novak asked about Google’s AI investment prospects.
“Are there any analogues to the Search Generative Experience or Bard that demonstrate higher usefulness, higher conversion rates, greater engagement, or simply show signals of profitability?” the expert replied.
As reported in September, the corporation introduced new AI-powered features that will speed up content creation for YouTube.
Earlier, Google DeepMind co-founder Mustafa Suleyman stated that the next phase of AI development is interactive bots that can perform tasks for humans.
