Google’s search engine has begun displaying balances of cryptocurrency addresses across Bitcoin, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, Polygon, and Fantom networks.
“The balance shows only the native token for each network. The timestamp of the last update indicates the balance at the time of the last external transaction. Data is updated with a delay,” reads a footnote to the main information.
In March, Google integrated a wallet viewing feature for Ethereum Name Service domains in search results. Information on address status is sourced from Etherscan.
In October 2022, the corporation provided support for Ethereum wallets. Initially, users could search for a specific public address and view the balance directly in the query line.
As reported in 2024, Google updated its advertising policy to allow the promotion of US-focused cryptocurrency ETFs and other investment exchange-traded products.
In September 2023, the company permitted the advertising of NFT games and affiliated products, provided they are not related to gambling.
