Google to Unveil AI for Autonomous Computer Management, Reports Suggest

Google is reportedly developing AI technology capable of independently performing tasks in a web browser, such as information searches, shopping, or booking flights. This is according to The Information, citing sources.

The publication indicates that the service, codenamed Project Jarvis, will be unveiled in December alongside a new version of the flagship AI model Gemini. It is designed to work with Chrome.

The tool is intended to “automate everyday web tasks by analyzing the screen, clicking buttons, and entering text.” In its current state, Project Jarvis takes several seconds to perform actions, The Information noted.

Journalists highlighted that the corporation’s plan may change. Initially, it is expected to be shown to a small group of testers.

A similar product was recently introduced by AI startup Anthropic. They released an updated version of the Claude 3.5 Sonnet model, which can interact with a computer like a human—moving the cursor, clicking buttons, and typing text.

Earlier reports suggested that OpenAI planned to introduce its next advanced AI model, codenamed Orion, by December, but the company denied this information.

In early October, Microsoft unveiled an updated version of its AI assistant Copilot with voice mode and screen image recognition.
