Google Trends: Bitcoin interest nears 2017 levels

The number of searches for the word “Bitcoin” has approached a record high. Mati Greenspan, founder of Quantum Economics, drew attention to the data from Google Trends.

Search volume for the word “Bitcoin” began to rise in the early days of October 2020. At that time the Google Trends indicator stood at 9% of its historical maximum, and Bitcoin traded around $10,500.

The frequency of searches for the leading cryptocurrency rose in tandem with its price. On January 1, Bitcoin was at $28 000, and the interest indicator stood at 42% of the 2017 high.

Currently, the number of searches stands at 78% of the previous peak. The first cryptocurrency is quoted at around $37 000, according to CoinGecko.

In Russia, the search term “Bitcoin” is popular, and its interest has risen significantly over the past few months.

The most common searches for Bitcoin are accompanied by the words “exchange”, “Bitcoin Cash” and “Ethereum”.

As reported, residents of the Russian Federation have become more interested in cryptocurrencies amid Bitcoin’s price rise.
