Ukrainian police, in a joint investigation with law enforcement authorities in the United States and the United Kingdom, identified suspects behind ransomware attacks.
По according to authorities, the criminals distributed the ransomware via email spam campaigns, demanding cryptocurrency for data decryption.
More than 50 companies were affected by the group’s activities. The damage amounted to more than $1 million.
The suspects also provided IP-address spoofing services.
One of the defendants was already wanted in other countries for theft of customer data from British banks.
Earlier in October, Ukrainian cyberpolice, together with Europol, Interpol, the FBI and French authorities identified the perpetrators behind the spread of the ransomware.
