The attackers said they had access to information allegedly proving Trump’s and his administration’s involvement in the origin of the coronavirus. They accused Trump himself of conspiring with foreign individuals to influence the 2020 U.S. presidential election.
After notifying, the attackers listed two cryptocurrency wallet addresses. One is intended for those who want the information made public, the other for those who would prefer it not be disclosed.
The attackers said they would decide how to handle the purportedly obtained data depending on how much money was deposited into each wallet.
Trump campaign spokesperson Tim Murtaugh later said that the website had been restored.
Earlier this evening, the Trump campaign website was defaced and we are working with law enforcement authorities to investigate the source of the attack. There was no exposure to sensitive data because none of it is actually stored on the site. The website has been restored.

Earlier on October 19, during a campaign appearance in Arizona, Trump stated:
“Nobody hacks anyone. To hack you, you’d need someone with an IQ of 197, and they’d also need to know about 15% of your password.”
The Dutch information-security engineer Viktor Gevers from the Netherlands allegedly hacked Twitter account of the U.S. president.
