Harris Pledges to Support Cryptocurrencies and AI

Kamala Harris has announced that if elected President of the United States, she intends to “encourage innovative technologies like AI and digital assets with consumer and investor protection.” This was reported by Bloomberg.

These areas align with her vision of an “economy of opportunity.”

“We will collaborate to invest in America’s competitiveness, to invest in America’s future. […] A safe business environment will emerge with consistent and transparent ‘rules of the road’,” she stated.

Harris’s remarks marked her first public statement on cryptocurrencies as a Democratic presidential candidate, the agency noted.

In August, journalists questioned Harris’s support for the crypto industry due to her absence from Crypto4Harris events. Her campaign team refuted these doubts.

Following debates with Republican opponent Donald Trump, the Democratic candidate’s chances have increased. According to Polymarket, she leads her opponent by 5%.

In September, Trump treated Bitcoin supporters to burgers at the themed New York bar PubKey, paying with digital gold via the Strike app on the Lightning Network.

The former US President seeks to gain the support of crypto users in the upcoming elections. In July, he spoke at the annual Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, promising to fire SEC Chair Gary Gensler and establish a strategic Bitcoin reserve.
