The Helium Foundation, the organisation behind the project of the same name, named March 27, 2023 as the date for migrating to the Solana blockchain.
? ATTENTION!
The Helium Network is officially migrating to @solana on March 27th! Are you ready?
Ensure that you’ve migrated to the Helium Wallet app for a smooth transition. Keep Hotspots active and online to receive IOT tokens.More in this thread?? https://t.co/rzk2xcBEJ0

The transition period is expected to last 24 hours. A working group comprising community representatives will oversee the migration.
The network participants voted in September 2022 to switch to Solana from the native layer-1 blockchain.
According to the developers, the migration will help scale Helium, reduce transaction costs and gain access to on-chain oracles.
Switching to Solana will allow the team and the community to focus on dapps, network expansion, protocols and utilities, the statement said.
During the migration, most Helium hotspot owners will not need to take any action. Only if you are using the original Helium Hotspot app will you need to switch to the Helium Wallet.
? After the migration, the Helium Wallet app will become a @solana wallet, allowing you to access all of your Helium tokens and Hotspots on the Solana blockchain. Your existing private key, or secret words, can be used to access your Helium assets on Solana.

“After the migration, the Helium Wallet will become a wallet that will allow you to access all your Helium tokens and hotspots on the Solana blockchain. Your existing private key or seed words can be used to access your assets,” the developers explained.
The developers перенесли the migration date to April 18, 2023.
In February 2022, the project raised $200 million in a Series D funding round. Helium’s valuation reached $1.2 billion.
