Huobi Global appoints regional director for Russia, Ukraine, and Turkey

The cryptocurrency exchange Huobi Global announced the appointment of Alphan Gogus as regional director for Russia, Ukraine, and Turkey. This was reported in the exchange’s official press release.

Alphan Gogus has been with Huobi Global since 2019. Previously, he led Huobi’s Turkey division.

In his new role, Gogus will focus on expanding Huobi Global’s presence in the markets of Russia, Ukraine, and Turkey:

\”We will strive to engage more closely with the community to understand and meet its needs. We want to raise the standard of service in the crypto industry so that Huobi users can confidently recommend us to their friends,\” he says.

From 2016 to 2019, Gogus served as Chief Operating Officer of BtcTurk, which became the first cryptocurrency platform to support the Turkish lira. Gogus was also chief financial and operating officer at BTCTrader, a company that develops software for crypto trading.

Before entering the crypto industry, Gogus held a senior manager position in Deloitte’s Turkish unit.

\n

According to Huobi Global, the appointment of Gogus is linked to the rapid growth of the cryptocurrency market in Russia and Ukraine. According to last year’s report by analytics company Chainalysis, Ukrainians and Russians are among the most active cryptocurrency users in the world.

\”Russia and Ukraine are strategically important markets for the exchange. We believe that Gogus’s managerial experience will help build a team of professionals and strengthen the community ties in Russia and Ukraine,\” say Huobi Global.

\n

This week Huobi added support for ruble bank cards. Until March 18, users can top up deposits with a 2.5% fee. After that, the standard 3% fee will apply.
