Huobi Receives Licence From British Virgin Islands Regulator

Huobi Group has received a licence to operate a platform for trading virtual assets from the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission.

The exchange will operate in the jurisdiction through its subsidiary Brtuomi Worldwide Limited. The latter plans to offer clients a range of services, including spot trading of Bitcoin and Ethereum, derivatives, as well as other investment instruments.

“In the future, we will closely cooperate with the regulators of the British Virgin Islands to develop a set of licensed trading products and services and to promote the growth of the cryptocurrency industry in the territory,” said Lily Zhang, the company’s CFO.

Earlier in August, Huobi’s subsidiary Hbit Technologies received authorization to provide financial services in Canada.

Regulators also approved the exchange to operate in New Zealand and Dubai.

Since November 2021, one of Huobi’s subsidiaries has held a license for spot trading of cryptocurrencies in Gibraltar.
