Ignite’s CEO (formerly Tendermint) Peng Zhong has resigned after more than seven years with the company. He has held the CEO post since May 2020.
“Today is my last day at Ignite. Thank you for the camaraderie we shared as we built out this ecosystem. It’s been an honor to be a part of this team and this community. I will miss you,” wrote Zhong.

In February, the company behind the Cosmos project rebranded to Ignite, because one of the co-founders used the original name for his new initiative.
In 2014, founder Do Kwon registered Tendermint, and in 2020 left the company to launch the Virgo project. In 2022 he regained ownership of the brand for a new firm.
Earlier this April, Ignite launched a $150 million accelerator focused on Web3 projects. Among the partners: Alameda Research, KuCoin Ventures, HashKey Capital, OKX Blockdream Venture and others.
