Illegal electricity consumption for mining worth 3 million rubles detected in Kostroma Oblast

In the Nerekhtsky District of Kostroma Oblast, connections to power grids were identified that bypass metering devices — mining farms operated on the site of abandoned buildings.

According to the МВД, during searches authorities seized 250 desktop computers, laptops, routers, and metering devices, and also found an autonomous transformer substation, illegally connected to the grid.

Preliminary estimates put the damage at around 3 million rubles.

A criminal case has been opened, and the investigation is ongoing.

Earlier, employees of the Rosseti Moscow Region branch обнаружили a mining farm in a non-residential building with signs of unaccounted electricity consumption.
