Illegal Kazakhstan-based bitcoin exchange stored funds on Binance

In Almaty, authorities identified an online cryptocurrency exchange that operated from 2019 to 2022 without registration and a license to provide services. сообщает the local Financial Monitoring Agency (AFM).

According to investigators, in 2020–2021 alone the individual entrepreneur earned a total income of nearly 94 million tenge (~$210,000).

Approximately 310 million tenge (~$693,000) was deposited into his wallet on the Binance Bitcoin exchange.

The court found the defendant guilty and imposed a fine, the amount of which the AFM did not disclose.

In March, authorities halted the operation of an illegal cryptocurrency exchange ABS Change, with a turnover of $34 million. Law enforcement seized $358,000 in cash and froze another $23,000 on Binance wallets.
