Illegal Mining Farm with 378 Devices Discovered in Dagestan

Police in the city of Kizilyurt uncovered illegally connected cryptocurrency mining equipment within an unnamed gardening association. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Dagestan.

The mining farm was located in an auxiliary room. Law enforcement seized 378 devices.

“The connection to the power lines was made illegally, with the devices operating bypassing the metering equipment. The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities are working to identify the owner of the seized equipment,” the statement said.

In January, police in Makhachkala discovered 620 cryptocurrency mining devices in the garage of an underground parking lot of a residential building following residents’ complaints about power surges.

In the same month, local law enforcement identified a farm with 250 devices that caused a critical overload of the power grid.

Earlier, energy providers in Dagestan urged bitcoin miners to shut down their mining centers during cold spells.
