Images of AMD mining GPU leaked online

An insider in Vietnam published photographs of AMD’s first dedicated mining graphics card.

The unnamed device was produced by the company XFX. It is based on a 7 nm Navi 21 graphics core — the same architecture underpins the latest AMD chips.

The dual-slot graphics card features PCIe 4.0 x16 expansion.

The cooling system comprises a large heatsink designed for airflow by server-rack fans. There are no video outputs on the rear panel; two 8-pin power connectors are provided for an additional power supply.

A reinforcing plate covers the back of the card.

AMD has not commented on the published pictures yet.

As reported in November 2020, an insider from Japan under the nickname KOMACHI_ENSAKA said that AMD was preparing three additional Radeon chips named RX 5700XTB, RX 5700B and RX 5500XTB. According to him, the letter ‘B’ in the name of each model allegedly denoted ‘blockchain’ and indicated the hardware’s specification.

A new wave of rumours about a mining-focused GPU lineup surfaced in the media in early March 2021.
