In Bishkek, authorities uncover a large illegal mining farm.

In one of the hangars within the Bishkek Special Economic Zone (SEZ), employees of the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes of Kyrgyzstan (GSBEP) uncovered an illegal mining farm.

GSBEP is identifying “the circle of those involved among the leadership of the Bishkek SEZ, as well as authorized government bodies that provide patronage to the established mining farm,” the agency’s press service said.

GSBEP officers are also determining how the equipment was brought onto the facility’s premises.

Earlier in June, Kyrgyzstan passed a bill amending the Tax Code to tax cryptocurrency mining.

In August, authorities presented a form for miners’ tax reporting.
