In Canada, the bankrupt ‘crypto king’ Aiden Pletersky was abducted by extortionists.

23-year-old self-proclaimed ‘crypto king’ Aiden Pletersky from Canada became the victim of kidnappers who tortured him and demanded a ransom of $3 million. This is stated in судебных документах.

Previously Pletersky ran an investment scheme promising participants earnings from cryptocurrencies. But of the $41.5 million he raised he invested only $670,000, that is, less than 2% of the total amount.

Meanwhile, about $16 million he spent on chartering private jets, travel and buying cars, including a Ferrari, four Audis, three Lamborghinis, three McLarens, a Land Rover and a BMW.

In August 2022 Pletersky was declared bankrupt. Since then, lawsuits totaling CAD 25 million ($18.2 million) have been filed in his case.

In December, Toronto police notified the bankruptcy administrator Rob Stelzer of Pletersky’s kidnapping. It has been established that unknown individuals held him for three days, tortured him, allowing contact only with a limited circle of people to obtain the ransom.

As a result, the ‘crypto king’ was released on the condition that he promptly find the money and did not contact law enforcement.

Pletersky himself said that the failure of his scheme was caused by the fall in crypto prices in November 2021. His attempts to reimburse some investors only led to further losses.

Recall that in June 2022 a bitcoin investor from Thailand robbed a jewelry store due to losses on the crypto market.
