Moscow police have opened a criminal case into the theft of nearly 15 million rubles during a bitcoin purchase deal. This was reported by ТАСС, citing sources in law enforcement.
According to the victim financier, he arranged to acquire the cryptocurrency through an acquaintance. The deal was to take place in one of Moscow’s business centres, where the man had arrived with his wife and child.
After handing over 14.7 million rubles, the man stepped into a corridor, hearing his child cry. Upon returning, he found that the money and the sellers were gone.
Police detained the suspect, who confessed. Investigations to identify his accomplices are ongoing.
Earlier in December, armed men in masks robbed a businessman of 15 million rubles during the signing of a cryptocurrency purchase deal in one of Moscow’s cafes.
