
In Moscow, suspect detained over bitcoin theft worth more than 28 million rubles
The Moscow police detained a hacker suspected of stealing bitcoins worth more than 28 million rubles. This is пишут «Известия».
According to the publication, together with accomplices the offender created malware to steal passwords for cryptocurrency wallets and placed it on a phishing site.
The victim was a Muscovite who downloaded software from the site. The hackers gained access to his account and stole more than 20 BTC (over 28.5 million rubles at the time).
One of the suspects has been detained. A criminal case has been opened.
Earlier in February, police detained the alleged thief of a bag containing 7 million rubles, who took it from a cryptocurrency seller in one of Moscow’s restaurants.
