In Russia, insurance payments were made for the first time with digital rubles
A number of Ingosstrakh regional offices sold travel insurance policies and accident coverage for digital rubles. This is reported by Izvestia.
The operations were carried out as part of testing the new asset.
Clients selected the desired product, received a generated QR code, and paid via the Ingosstrakh Bank app. According to specialists, the transaction was instantaneous.
Among other operations, the company has already tested opening, closing and locking a digital account, deposits and withdrawals, person-to-person transfers, and deals with deferred settlement dates. They also tested returns credited to the buyer in the new form of the national currency.
In the future, they plan to sell coverage for digital rubles at the VSK Insurance Company.
Earlier ForkLog reported that the digital ruble had been tested by VTB, QIWI Bank and Alfa-Bank.
The Russian CBDC law took effect on 1 August.
Russian citizens will have the opportunity to use it en masse in 2025–2027.
