Inferno Drainer phishing service announces closure

Inferno Drainer phishing service announces closure

On 26 November, the team behind the Inferno Drainer service, which offered fraudulent services to steal cryptocurrency, announced its closure. In 2023 alone, assets worth nearly $70 million were stolen with its help.

Inferno Drainer will retain the files and infrastructure necessary for the operation of the scheme, so that users can make a ‘smooth transition’ to other services.

“Thank you very much to everyone who worked with us. We hope you remember us as the best draining system that ever existed, and that we helped you in your quest to make money,” the message says.

The team deleted the partner Telegram account mr_inferno_drainer and advised against trusting anyone who might use its name in the future.

CertiK described Inferno Drainer as “one of the most destructive phishing kits” it has encountered.

Inferno Drainer was marketed as a multichain scam. Its creators provided clients with an administration panel enabling the configuration of phishing pages and even offered a trial version. For their services they took 20% of the funds stolen from users.

According to analysts Scam Sniffer, since February, Inferno Drainer has stolen nearly $70 million from more than 100,000 victims. The attackers themselves claimed that the amount stolen was over $80 million.

In January, CertiK experts identified the alleged author of this scheme thanks to a quarrel between scammers.
