InfoWars founder loses laptop containing 10,000 BTC

InfoWars founder Alex Jones, the creator of the conspiracy-theory publication InfoWars, lost a laptop on which 10,000 BTC were stored (over $546 million at the time of writing). Jones revealed this himself on the Flagrant 2 podcast.

According to him, the coins were given to him back in 2011 by television host Max Keiser, who said the digital coin would become the world’s new currency.

Keiser confirmed on Twitter that he did indeed gift Jones 10,000 BTC. At that time, the price of one bitcoin was under $5.

Earlier in January, a resident of the British city of Newport offered local authorities about $72 million to dig up a city dump, where his hard drive containing 7,500 BTC ended up.
