The company also allowed NFT sharing for all Instagram users in 100 countries participating in the pilot.
«All Facebook and Instagram users in the United States can connect their wallets and share digital collectible items. This includes the ability to cross-post NFTs [across two social networks]. In addition, all residents of the 100 countries where digital collectibles have been integrated into Instagram can now access this feature,» the announcement says.
In May 2022, Meta launched a pilot project to integrate NFTs on Instagram. Selected users were allowed to set non-fungible tokens as their profile pictures.
The social network supports assets on Ethereum, Polygon and Flow blockchains. Wallets Rainbow, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet and Dapper Wallet are available for connection. In the initial announcement, the company promised to integrate Phantom, but has not done so yet.
In August, the initiative was expanded to an additional 100 countries.
In the same month, Meta connected Facebook to the pilot project.
