
Interest in Bitcoin on Twitter and Wikipedia rises as prices hit new highs
Interest in Bitcoin among internet users rose in tandem with prices climbing above $20,000. This is evidenced by the number of tweets mentioning Bitcoin on Twitter and the traffic to the asset’s page on Wikipedia.
Over the day, The TIE analysts registered more than 92,000 messages related to digital gold, according to CoinDesk.

Analysts linked the increase in Bitcoin-related posts to both actions by active figures in the crypto industry and tweets from distinctive accounts. On Wednesday, December 16, around 50,000 Twitter users were actively discussing it.
According to the service ToolForge, on December 16 the Bitcoin page on Wikipedia drew 16,088 views. The absolute record for 2020 was set on December 17 — 28,483 views.

Since January 1, the Bitcoin page has been visited on average by 7,004 users per day. Total views have surpassed 2.46 million.
On December 17, Bitcoin came close to gold in media mentions.
