Iranian police arrest buyer of Jack Dorsey’s NFT tweet
Iranian law enforcement authorities have arrested the founder of the blockchain company Bridge Oracle, Sina Estavi. The businessman said of it on Twitter, but later deleted the post.
The Iranian Centre for Investigating Organized Crime confirmed the arrest of Bridge Oracle staff. The investigation into the company began nine months ago. The arrest order was issued by the Special Court for Economic Crimes.
Estavi also heads the Malaysian cryptocurrency exchange CryptoLand. According to Mehr News, he was among those detained.
One of Bridge Oracle’s consultants is Bitcoin.com’s co-founder Mait Tokay. In January 2021, he accused Estavi of fraud, saying that he never received payment for the services rendered.
In April, Estavi bought the first tweet by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey as a non-fungible token for $2.91 million. As reported by CoinDesk, the community accused the businessman of fraud and deceiving investors.
In the same month, the Iranian Blockchain Association requested from the community documents relating to Estavi’s activities and the companies under his control. The interest is related to “multiple complaints” about the businessman.
After the arrest of Bridge Oracle staff, the organization stated that the head of the company had never been a member of the association.
Earlier in May, police in France arrested the partner of the OneCoin cryptocurrency pyramid Frank Schneider.
