Irkutsk Region to Prosecute Owner of 214-Device Mining Farm

The Cheremkhovo city prosecutor’s office approved an indictment against a 35-year-old local resident involved in cryptocurrency mining.

According to the investigation, from January to February 2023, the man installed 214 ASIC miners in a rented non-residential space and illegally connected them to a nearby transformer substation.

The operation of the farm caused damage to the power grid company amounting to over 1 million rubles.

The criminal case has been sent to the city court for trial.

In February, traffic police in Irkutsk apprehended serial thieves of cryptocurrency mining equipment following a chase.
