Dorsey added the hashtag #EndSARS to his post. The movement advocates against the brutality of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigerian police.
Since October 4, protests have swept the country, prompting President Muhammadu Buhari to disband the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE: The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force @PoliceNG has been dissolved WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT.
The Inspector General of Police will communicate further developments in this regard.

But SARS officers continue to operate in other police units. Human rights advocates and EndSARS supporters say the authorities’ measures are insufficient and continue to protest.
The campaign was backed by Paxful chief executive Ray Youssef. He said SARS targets users of digital assets. He called the situation in Nigeria a “human rights crisis”.
This is a real crisis of human rights happening now! Police are targeting young entrepreneurs for using crypto currency. Nigerians brilliantly adopted crypto early and used it legitimately to rise out of poverty and restore honor to Nigeria and this is their reward ? #EndSARS https://t.co/Tuhn83x5pA

The movement was backed by local cryptocurrency exchange Busha. Its representatives urged other tech startups to contribute to the fight for Nigerians’ rights.
We just matched this donation by @buycoins_africa and are calling other tech startups to donate to this cause.
This issue affects us and our employees the most. #EndSars #EndPoliceBrutality https://t.co/QGxYmnNi12

In October, Square, Jack Dorsey’s payments company bought approximately 4,709 BTC for $50 million. The investment in the leading cryptocurrency amounted to around 1% of the organisation’s total assets at the end of the second quarter of 2020.
