Janet Yellen criticises the inclusion of Bitcoin in retirement plans

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen criticised the initiative to integrate the first cryptocurrency into retirement savings account packages 401(k). Bloomberg reports.

\n\n

“This is not something I would recommend to most people who are saving for retirement. For me, this is a very risky investment,” said the head of the agency.

\n\n

In her view, Congress could regulate the types of assets eligible for inclusion in retirement plans:

\n\n

“I’m not saying I would recommend [such an approach], but, in my view, this would be prudent.”

\n\n

In June, the 401(k) provider ForUsAll filed suit against the U.S. Department of Labor to overturn the department’s order enforcing cryptocurrency investment requirements.
