Japanese Firm Metaplanet to Raise $6.3 Million for Bitcoin Acquisition

The publicly traded company Metaplanet announced its intention to issue unsecured bonds worth 1 billion yen ($6.26 million) to purchase digital gold.

The interest rate on these securities will be 0.5%. The bond’s maturity and coupon payment period is set for one year.

The market reacted positively to the company’s plans. Metaplanet’s shares rose by 9.2%, according to Finance.Yahoo.

In June 2024, the organization reported the purchase of 23.351 BTC ($1.58 million), increasing its total holdings in the leading cryptocurrency to 141.07 BTC ($9.54 million).

Earlier in April, Metaplanet announced the conversion of treasury funds into digital gold.
