Some holders of JasmyCoin (JASMY) may believe that the project has partnered with Apple. The coin surged by 20% in a day.
According to a Reuters report from May 30, the CEO of the California corporation, Tim Cook, agreed to implement the national identification card functions “My Number” in iPhones at the request of Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
The decision consolidates all tax and social security information of the country’s citizens and residents into a single registry.
JasmyCoin is an ERC-20 token focused on data privacy and security. Members of the project’s community have long claimed it is an ideal solution for Japanese digital IDs.
In a press release last year, CyberTrust, the company that owns Jasmy Co., discussed working on the iTrust identity verification service and suggested possible collaboration with the Japanese government.
Since May 2023, the “My Number” function has been available on Android devices via the Mynaportal app. Another blog post from CyberTrust states that the company’s technology “provides identity verification capabilities” in conjunction with this development.
The JASMY community likely concluded that if the “My Number” function appears on iPhones, iTrust will also be integrated with the device.
“Announced literally by [the Prime Minister of] Japan. I’m not sure how much more reliable confirmation you can get,” wrote a JasmyCoin supporter on Reddit.
No official comments have been released by representatives of Apple or JasmyCoin.
In April, the Hedera (HBAR) token surged by 110% following the tokenization of a BlackRock fund. Based on the announcement, the community assumed that the largest asset manager had entered into a partnership with the project.
However, the company later denied any direct collaboration, causing the coin to drop by 30%.
