Over time, augmented and virtual experiences will change daily life, but for now metaverses resemble the World Wide Web in 1994. In an interview with Decrypt, Joseph Lubin, founder of ConsenSys and a co‑founder of Ethereum, said.
“Right now the use of virtual ‘sandboxes’ is somewhat like connecting to the Internet in its early days. I would dial a number and go to breakfast while my email loaded,” — the expert said.
In the future Lubin sees metaverses as an immersive version of the Internet, despite their current ‘raw’ character. They will become as ubiquitous as email, he added.
“Experience working in Web3 is not as attractive, but this won\’t last long. Then the masses will come,” he explained.
The expert doubted that the potential of metaverses could be realized on the first try, but expressed optimism about the promises to transform online life.
“And our money, our work, and our activities will be realized either in augmented or in virtual reality. Or, at least, through tools that will let us live richly and, hopefully, engagingly, online,” Lubin explained.
Meta sees the metaverse as the future of humanity.
Earlier, Ethereum cofounder Vitalik Buterin doubted the success of Mark Zuckerberg’s company’s efforts.
