Jump Crypto to develop new Solana client

The Solana Foundation and venture firm Jump Crypto have joined forces to create a validator client to boost the decentralisation and performance of the Solana blockchain.

Open-source project named Firedancer will be based on C++. It will complement Solana Labs’ Rust-based client. Development is planned to be completed within the next 12–24 months. The company welcomes community involvement in the process.

The initiative is designed to improve network stability in the event that one client type encounters problems, as well as to reduce the share of staked assets tied to a particular software stack.

Representatives of the venture firm assured that they would bring a performance‑oriented approach to development. In their view, Solana’s throughput is currently limited not by hardware but by software inefficiencies.

“Jump Crypto’s involvement will bolster the blockchain’s status as the best place to build Web3 with a reach of up to a billion users,” — said Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana.

In June 2021 the firm участвовала в раунде Solana Labs на $314 млн.
