According to him, an attacker exploited a malicious contract to attack TRON during the protocol upgrade to version 4.1. The attack occurred on November 2 at 01:14 (MSK).
The hacker exploited the contract developer’s privileges and initiated malicious transactions, forcing the super representatives to halt block production. In Sun’s view, the attacker aimed to profit from it.
“The community reacted immediately, localising and promptly fixing the issue, while also working with the super representatives on updating the nodes,” wrote the founder of TRON.
Block production in the network gradually resumed after 3:29, with TRON’s operations fully normalised by 4:40.
Sun said that data on the blockchain and users’ assets were fully secure.
