Justin Sun paid $28m for a spaceflight. The founder of Tron said he won the auction for the first commercial launch of Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket by Jeff Bezos for $28 million. He is set to fly to space in 2022.

“I won the auction six months ago, but I missed the launch. However, that has not stopped my love for space,” said the entrepreneur.

The first crewed flight of New Shepard took place on July 20, 2021. The anonymous winner’s slot at the time went to the entrepreneur Josh Demen. He sent his son Oliver on the flight.

Sun intends to take five people with him, selected during the launched Sea of Stars campaign.

In July 2019 Sun paid a record $4.5 million at a charity auction that offered the traditional annual lunch with Warren Buffett. The lunch, scheduled for July, finally occurred in January 2020.

Earlier in December 2021, Sun announced his departure from the Tron Foundation to take up Grenada’s seat at the World Trade Organization.
