Authorities in Kazakhstan halted the operations of five unregistered cryptocurrency exchanges. сообщает the local Financial Monitoring Agency.
According to available information, the exchange points KZobmen.com, 1WM.KZ, Kazobmen.ru, WM007.KZ and KZ-EXCHANGE.COM operated outside the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) territory in defiance of the ban.
Law enforcement conducted searches at six addresses and seized computer equipment, mobile phones, banking and accounting documents, and hardware wallets.
Two accounts on the Binance exchange belonging to the suspects, with a total value of $6,000, have been blocked. More than $200,000 were found on other cryptocurrency platforms.
The Agency did not provide further details, citing an ongoing pre-trial investigation.
In Kazakhstan, cryptocurrency trading and the operation of crypto exchanges are allowed solely within the jurisdiction of the AIFC provided a license is held.
