
Kazakhstan Shuts Down Mining Farm with 156 Devices
AFM of Kazakhstan uncovered an illegal cryptocurrency mining farm located on an industrial site in the city of Temirtau.
The devices were housed in metal containers.
During searches at the site, 156 ASIC miners and other related equipment were discovered and seized.
A pre-trial investigation is underway.
Since the beginning of 2024, the agency has identified 11 instances of illegal mining farms, with total criminal proceeds amounting to nearly 440 million tenge (over $839,600). During the investigation, equipment worth 269 million tenge (~$513,300) and digital assets valued at 373 million tenge (~$711,800) were seized.
In just two criminal cases sent to court, the total criminal proceeds amounted to 216 million tenge (~$412,200). In these cases, property worth 1.1 billion tenge ($2.09 million) and digital assets exceeding 30 million tenge (~$57,200) were seized.
In September, the AFM discovered a farm with nearly 1,300 ASIC miners operating under the guise of an engine processing center in Astana.
