Kazan pensioner loses 918,000 rubles in attempt to profit from cryptocurrencies

A pensioner from Kazan told law enforcement that she had fallen victim to scammers. They promised earnings from trading cryptocurrencies, according to local media.

The criminals contacted the victim by phone and promised her high returns from trading.

To fund the investment, the victim took out a bank loan.

The pensioner granted the criminals remote access to her phone, after which they withdrew more than 900,000 rubles from her accounts and stopped contacting her.

Law enforcement authorities have opened a criminal case for fraud.

As reported, Russians are frequently targeted by scammers promising help to earn money from cryptocurrencies. Earlier, Bitcoin scammers extorted 850,000 rubles over the phone.
