
Kevin Hart’s BAYC NFT Sells at a 76% Discount
The non-fungible token #9258 from the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection, once owned by American comedian Kevin Hart, was sold for 13.65 ETH (~$47,000).
According to on-chain data, Hart purchased this NFT in January 2022 for 79.5 ETH ($200,000 at the time of the transaction). The token has depreciated by approximately 76%.
The comedian acquired the asset through MoonPay, a service that collaborates with celebrities to facilitate NFT purchases. Other celebrities involved include singer Madonna, Justin Bieber, and TV host Jimmy Fallon.
In December, Scott+Scott filed a lawsuit on behalf of BAYC and ApeCoin (APE) holders against Yuga Labs and MoonPay for undisclosed collaborations with celebrities.
According to DappRadar, the BAYC collection ranks first in trading volume over the past 30 days, with a figure of $123 million. However, the floor price for a token has dropped by 18% over the month, down to $46,600.
In February 2024, a rare BAYC NFT #1726 was sold for 275 ETH (about $688,000 at the time of the transaction). It belonged to an NFT whale known as franklinisbored, one of the main holders of the collection.
In August 2023, NFT BAYC #8585 was acquired for a record low of 153 ETH (around $254,000). The asset lost 80% of its value over 11 months.
In July, BAYC #3953 was sold for 200 ETH (~$372,000 at the time of the transaction), significantly lower than peak levels.
