Kevin O’Leary eyes purchases of green-mining stocks

Canadian entrepreneur and star of the television show Shark Tank Kevin O’Leary has expressed interest in purchasing shares of mining companies that use green energy.

In an interview with Anthony Pompliano, O’Leary said that Middle Eastern sovereign funds are exploring mining opportunities. He believes that within the next two to three years they may enter this space, focusing on the shares of “eco-friendly” companies.

The businessman did not rule out starting his own mining firm. In addition to regulatory approval, O’Leary would like to win the backing of residents in the area where it would be located.

Another condition for developing this line of business was to allow mining companies to reflect income from cryptocurrency mining in their financial statements. For O’Leary and other financiers, he says, this would create an incentive for investment.

As reported in November, O’Leary said he held almost 10% of his capital in cryptocurrencies.

Earlier, the investor urged the US authorities to develop a regulatory framework for the cryptocurrency market as soon as possible.
