Kraken and Mastercard to Launch Cryptocurrency Debit Cards

The cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has partnered with the payment system Mastercard to issue physical and digital debit cards.

The product will allow payments in cryptocurrency and stablecoins at over 150 million retail locations worldwide. The new cards will be offered to users in the UK and Europe.

The project is part of the Kraken Pay service, which enables cross-border payments in more than 300 crypto and fiat currencies.

The exchange provides clients with a unique Kraktag identifier linked to their wallet. At the time of writing, over 200,000 users have activated Kraktag.

Kraken CEO David Ripley noted that the project’s goal is to simplify the use of cryptocurrencies for everyday spending.

“Our clients want to easily pay for purchases with cryptocurrency or stablecoins,” he added.

The debit cards are expected to be available in the coming weeks. Kraken clients can already join the waiting list to be among the first to access the new solutions.

Earlier, on March 7, Bloomberg sources reported on the exchange’s plans to go public in the first quarter of 2026 amid changes in cryptocurrency market regulation in the US.

On March 20, Kraken entered into an agreement to acquire the futures trading platform NinjaTrader for $1.5 billion.
